For those of you that don't know me, my name is Anne Henter. I was born and raised in small town in Iowa. I'm recently divorced and had two amazing kids. My son passed away at 24 and through my life into a tail spin. I will write more about that later. My daughter moved back to our town and I couldn't ask for a better friend. She has taught me what unconditional love really means. We have supported each other through the darkest days that anyone can imagine.

My passion for making anything goes back to about fourth grade. I was always eager to learn a new craft. I learned how to garment sew and all things with a needle from my mother. My grandma taught me how to knit and crochet. I bought my first sewing machine with my high school graduation money. Through college I made most of my clothes and had a ball. Quilting came along after college (yes that's a long time ago). I took a class from our local adult education classes, and I was off and running. The quilt I made in that class was never completed. It was pieced by machine and quilted by hand in a quilt as you go method. Knowing very little about the quilting process I picked the thickest batting I could find and quickly learned that hand quilting through that stuff just wasn't easy, lesson learned. Once I learned the process there was no stopping me. My first completed quilt was a split rail fence with the old dusty rose and blue colors. I even incorporated the fabric I used to make all of my bride’s maids dresses. Fast forward to today and I don't even know how many quilts I have made. I have upgraded my sewing machine a number of times. I currently sew on two different machines depending on what I am doing. I use a Pfaff Creative Icon 2 and a Juki TL2010. I love them both for different reasons. More on that in another blog. I own a longarm and quilt all my own quilts. My favorite part of quilting is the binding (I know I'm crazy). I think I like that part because it means the quilt is almost done.

What am I trying to accomplish with this new business adventure? My mantra for many years has been Find Your Joy. Do what you love to do and find people who love to do it as well. Through this website I hope to entertain you with my blog as well as supply you with all the quilting supplies you need to Find Your Joy.

Last but not least, where does the name Sew Much Joy Quilting come from? My mom's middle name is Joy and my daughter's middle name is also Joy. What better way to honor them. They bring me such joy I had to use it somewhere.

Until the next blog, do your best to Find Your Joy!
