It's Been a Minute...

Wow, it’s been a minute since I touched base with everyone.  I wish I had a good excuse,  I’ve just been busy quilting.  I’m sure you can all relate.  I’ve been to a few retreats and had a blast.  I highly recommend if you don’t have a small group that you associate with and that you can plan retreats with, that you go to a retreat and make new friends.  I’m sure I’ve told you all before but I am in a group of 11 women and we always plan our own retreats.  We bring our own projects and make a food list for everyone to bring.  It works out great for us.  We have found a few places to have our retreats and we are repeat customers.  These places love us because we are responsible and never cause any problems.  We’ve made some new friends along the way as well.

Some things I’ve complete this year are:

1.        This was a block of the month through Pink Door Fabrics.  They did such a wonderful job with this BOM.  The pattern is by Quiltworx and uses all Tula Pink fabrics.  Pink Door made a video from start to finish on making this quilt.  The host of the video was a certified Quiltworx instructor and in the video she completes the entire quilt along with you.  I had never done a Quiltworx pattern and was very intimidated to start but quickly caught on.  I’ve already signed up for Pink Door Fabrics next Quiltworx BOM.  I can’t wait

2.        This next pattern is called Posh Penelope by Sew Kind of Wonderful.  It was a really fun one to make and is easier than it looks.  I saw a quilt just like this on Pinterest.  I’m not sure who the original was made by but it was posted/pinned by David McLaughlin.  I used all Kona Cotton Solids to make it. It uses the Quick Curve ruler and it makes sewing curves a breeze.  If you decide to give it a go, check out the video by Sew Kind of Wonderful on how to use the ruler.  Takes a little practice but once you get it, the possibilities are endless.  I’ve made quite a few quilts using their patterns and ruler.

3.        This last one is Summer Sparkle by Laurie Shifrin.  It was a kit I bought and it uses the Interwoven fabric line by Jason Yenter.  A year and a half ago I went to Barcelona and visited the La Sagrada Familia.  Shortly after that I saw this kit and knew I had to make it.  It reminded me so much of the Basilica.   I’ve include a picture of the inside of the Basilica so you can see my inspiration.  I highly recommend this if you ever go to Barcelona.

My next undertaking is to make some quilted clothing.  I’ll keep you posted on that one.  I used to only sew garments until about 30 years ago when I discovered quilting and we all know how that has turned out.

That’s all for now.  Find a way to Find Your Joy!!
